As Christians, we are called to serve others, both in our own community and around the world.
Dinner At Your Door Elim members deliver meals to the elderly, permanently or temporarily disabled, and the homebound. Drivers volunteer once or twice per month for 1-2 hours, delivering meals from North Memorial Medical Center, Ambassador Nursing Home or Crystal Community Center.
Leisure Age Supported by 12 local churches, Leisure Age is a program designed especially for senior citizens. It meets each Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. for fellowship, lunch and entertainment. The cost for lunch is $8 and reservations are required each week. Call (763) 537-1171 between 9:00 a.m. and noon on Monday for reservations. Free blood pressure checks are available on the third Thursday of each month.
NEAR Elim supports North-suburban Emergency Assistance Response (NEAR) through financial gifts, non-perishable food donations, school supplies and Christmas gifts. NEAR provides emergency assistance and a food shelf to clients in the northwest suburban area. The phone number is (763) 533-2836.
Global Missions Elim helps provide support for Rev. Mark and Marcia Holman through the ELCA Office for Global Mission Support. Mark serves as pastor for the English-speaking congregation at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in the Old City of Jerusalem. Marcia is an educational consultant for the schools of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL). They both provide educational resources for visitors pursuing transformative pilgrimages, work to enhance community life among church members and the broader community of expatriates, and help lead special projects of the ELCJHL and their companion synods.
