  • Community Thanksgiving Worship | Sunday, November 18 | 4pm | at Sacred Heart Elim Choir and Ringtones will join Sacred Heart in music. Pot luck following; all are welcome.  Drop off your dish to share before the service begins.

GROUPS & GATHERINGS
  • Surviving the Holidays: Help and hope as you navigate the Christmas season Sunday, December 2 from 10:30-11:45am in the Reception Room Led by Pastor Marcia Rosa, this seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one’s death. All are welcome. Pre-register by Nov. 25 only if you want a copy of the GriefShare Holiday Survival Guide; $5 each. Not required.
  • Donuts & Dialogue | Sunday, December 9 | 10:30am | Parlor Classroom (by stage) Book discussion for December is “A House United” by Alan Hinton. This group is free and open to anyone.  Some books are available for purchase; $15 each. Harald will have them in the Fireside Room on Sunday.
  • 1st Sundays Adult Education | Sunday, December 2 | 10:30am in the Parlor Presenter: Dr. Mark Tranvik, Professor of Religion, Augsburg University Subject: Who was Worse: The Pastor or the Klansman?  A look at two lives from the civil rights era and see how the Christian faith influenced how they viewed black-white relationships. Also a discussion about how our faith might inform our own thinking about racial issues.
 
YOUTH & FAMILY
  • ElimKidsGO! Christmas Party | Sunday, December 9 | 2-4pm | Gym Our elementary aged kids and their families are invited to a Christmas party with games, cookie decorating and a craft! Light snacks will be served. RSVP to Kelly Sanches at (612) 203-4260 or email jksanches2000@yahoo.com.  Parents – Your Choice!  Drop off your kids for a few hours while you get some shopping done!  We have help from Elim’s youth!  OR feel free to stay and join the party!
  • Children’s Christmas Program | Sunday, December 16 | 9:15am We invite your children (ages 3 to 5th grade) to be part of Elim’s Christmas Program this year on December 16 during our 9:15am worship service!  It is important for the children to come to each Sunday School class up until the program because we will be practicing.  Our final rehearsal will be Saturday, December 15 from 9:30-11:30 in the sanctuary.
 
ELIM EVENTS
  • Figgy Pudding Handbell Concert | Saturday, December 8 | 1:00pm | Elim Parlor The Elim Ringtones will hold a concert of Christmas music and a reception of scrumptious, delicious, decadent desserts.
  • Christmas in Robbinsdale | Sunday, December 9 | 4:00pm | Free & open to public Presented by the Elim Foundation, this concert is celebrating the season with word and music, featuring local talent to include Cooper H.S. Chamber Orchestra, Armstrong H.S. Chamber Singers, and Elim’s Ringtones and Choir. Located in the Sanctuary.
  • Mini-Bazaar | December 2, 9, 16| 9:00—11:00 a.m. | Fireside Room Come to the Fireside Room for unique homemade crafts, decorations and gifts. Get your Christmas shopping done and support the ministry of the Women of Elim.
 
SERVICE & MISSION
  • Walk to End Hunger: Minnesota FoodShare is participating in the Walk to End Hunger and they would love to have you join their team! Join them Thanksgiving morning at the Mall of America from 7-10am. (Stores are closed except for a couple coffee shops).  An Elim group will meet at church at 8am on Thanksgiving morning, drive over to MOA and be back by 10:30am. Some other church members go on their own and invite family or friends to join them. It’s a fun activity for all ages, accessible for all abilities and nice way to start Thanks-giving day!   • Thank you to the volunteers who helped with the Christmas Cookie and Cardmaking for our homebound this past  Saturday. Cookie packing is Monday, Nov. 26 at 10am.
  • Thanksgiving Holiday Meals for NEARHelp us collect food for the NEAR food shelf. Grocery bags will be distributed TODAY. Food donations may be left at the red wagons anytime on Sundays or during the week.  Items needed are Stuffing Mix; Pumpkin and Yams; Pineapple and Cranberries; Fruit Cocktail; Cookies and Candy; Canned Oranges; Pie Mix of any kind; Canned Milk; Corn and Green Beans and money to buy meat certificates. Financial donations are also welcome. Make checks payable to Elim Lutheran Church with NEAR in the memo line, or donate only at www.elim-robbindale.org/giving for the NEAR fund.
  • Families Moving Forward VolunteersElim is hosting homeless families Sunday, December 2 through Sunday, December 9. Up to 4 families will be at Elim for evening meals and to sleep overnight during this week.  We are seeking volunteers to help us serve our guest families. We need volunteers to help with · Setting up the sleeping rooms Sunday, December 2 after church (12pm to 2:00 p.m.) · Dinner servers (5:30 to 7:30) on Monday, Thursday, Saturday · Greeters to welcome the families when they arrive (5:30 to 6:30) · People to help children with coloring or play in the nursery · Take down sleeping rooms Sunday, December 9 before church (7:00 to 9:00 a.m.) You may sign up on our website by visiting elim-robbinsdale.org/serve or sign up in the narthex before or after church today and Sunday, November 28. A big thank you to St. Raphaels Cub Scout Pack 163 for the donation of four fleece tied blankets to our Families Moving Forward hosting. Tristan Whitehead, Elim member, is a member of the pack along with a number of students from Meadow Lake Elementary School.
 
CONSIDER BEING A PLEDGING OR SUSTAINING MEMBER We are asking everyone in our community to prayerfully consider your financial support of Elim Lutheran Church when making your charitable giving plans for the upcoming year.  We encourage Elim households to consider becoming Pledging or Sustaining Members at any time and at any level that fits your household’s capacity for giving. Pledging Members are those who have turned in a pledge card with an estimated amount of their household’s financial support for the coming year.  Sustaining Members have set up a reoccurring electronic contribution. Those who commit to supporting Elim Lutheran Church as a Pledging or Sustaining Member will receive a travel mug souvenir as a reminder of your participation.  Pledge cards are available at either entrance or fill out a form online at our website www.elim-robbinsdale.org/giving.  PUT YOUR NAME ON THE CARDS!! PRAYER OF THE DAY Almighty God, Give us faith to be steadfast amid the troubles of this world, trusting that your kingdom comes and your will is done through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
