ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEEK OF November 26

INVITATION SUNDAY
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10
Pastor Dan and a team of Elim people will canvas local neighborhoods placing door hangers on front doors.  The door hangers will invite households to celebrate the joy of Christmas at Elim.  To participate in this exciting activity, please R.S.V.P. to Pastor Dan at ddoerrer@elim-robbinsdale.org or call him at the church office, 763-537-8481.  Participants will receive a blessing from the congregation at the beginning of the 9:30am service and return for hot chocolate, coffee and treats in the parlor at approximately 10:30am.

YOUTH & FAMILY
Children’s Christmas Program | Sunday, Dec. 17 | 9:30am
We invite your child/ren (ages 3 to 6th grade) to be part of Elim’s Christmas Program this year on December 17 during our 9:30am worship service!  It is important for the children to come to each Sunday School class up until the program because we will be practicing.  Our final rehearsal will be Saturday, December 16 from 9:30-11:30 in the sanctuary.
 
ElimKidsGO! Christmas Party | Sunday, December 10 | 2-4pm | Gym
Our elementary aged kids and their families are invited to a Christmas party with games, cookie decorating and a craft! Light snacks will be served. RSVP to the church office at 763-537-8481 or on our website at www.elim-robbinsdale.org/elim-kids-go

.  Parents – Your Choice!  Drop off your kids for a few hours while you get some shopping done!  We have help from Elim’s youth!  OR feel free to stay and join the party!

1st Sundays Adult Education | Sunday, December 3 | 11:00am in the Parlor
Presenter: Dr. Mark Tranvik, Augsburg College
Martin Luther loved the Christmas story and preached on it many times.  In this class we will look at how Luther made this familiar tale come alive in his preaching and teaching. You will never look at Mary, Joseph, the angels, the shepherds, and Herod in the same way! No RSVP required.
 
Mini-Bazaar | December 3, 10, 17| 9:00—11:00 a.m. | Fireside Room
Come to the Fireside Room for unique homemade crafts, decorations and gifts. Get your Christmas shopping done and support the ministry of the Women of Elim.

SURVIVING CHRISTMAS  – A Restorative Experience
Wednesdays | Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, 20 | 6:00-7:00pm | Elim’s Chapel

   Each week we will find peace focusing 20 minutes each on mind, body & spirit.
  • Mind:  Encouragement, support and learning from each other about ways to discover balance in the busyness and address anxiety, creating lasting memories and family traditions, What if I don’t feel happy at Christmas? How to deal with loss or disappointment around the holidays, and relatives and strained relationships.
  • Body:  Kelly Sanches, owner of Sky Blue Shiatsu will instruct while we experience physical relaxation and restoration through techniques like Shiatsu, pressure points, aromatherapy and mindfulness.
  • Spirit:  Guided meditation, prayer and music to rest in the presence of God and be restored.

   School age children will be in class with Pastor Dan. Please contact Pastor Marcia at the church office, 763-537-8481, if you need child care or have questions. 

CHRISTMAS MEMORIALS

Envelopes are in the pews for Christmas memorials. Give a gift in honor of someone or lovingly remember a special person who has passed on. Your memorial gifts help to pay for the poinsettias that decorate the sanctuary during Advent and Christmas. (Poinsettias cost $10 each, but any amount is welcome.) Names of those being honored will be in the Christmas Eve bulletin. Please turn in your gift by Monday, December 18. 
 
SERVICE & MISSION
NEAR Food Shelf: NEAR provides food for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The Elim community is invited to give donations of food or money to help NEAR for this effort.  Through its food shelf network, NEAR is able to buy more food with cash donations than individuals can buy at stores with the same amount of money. We will continue to have grocery bags available for members to pick up today and Sunday, 10 for Christmas meals.  Items needed will be posted on the bag. Thank you!
 
Mitten Tree:  We will have a mitten tree in the foyer again this year. This year we are asking members to contribute water-resistant mittens as well as knit mittens, caps, and scarves.
 
Victory Health & Rehab Christmas Gift Giving: The residents of Victory Health & Rehab (formally Camden Care Center) will have a Christmas wish list of items hanging on the Christmas tree in the parlor.  If you would like to participate in this Service & Mission Board Christmas program, please take a name from the tree, then write down your name and phone number next to that name on the sheet located on the table next to the tree. Purchase one or more gifts from that person’s list ($15-20 maximum). Please return the gift (wrapped) with the name tag attached so we know who should receive it. Gifts must be brought to church by December 17. Thank you! 
 

WORSHIP-MUSIC-ARTS

Advent Project:  Be sure to pick up your Advent project provided by the Worship Committee beginning next Sunday, Dec. 3.  Each Sunday in Advent you will be offered another packet for your family. 
 
Figgy Pudding Bell Ring | December 9 & 10 | 2pm
Our Ringtones will be attending the Area VII convention of Hand Bell Ringers of America in Rochester, MN on June  22. To help finance this trip you are invited to their  Figgy Pudding Bell Ring on Saturday, December 9 & 10 at 2:00pm for a concert of Christmas music and a reception of scrumptious, delicious, decadent desserts. 
 
Christmas Eve Celebrations | December 24 | 9:30am, 4:00pm, 11:00pm

Celebrate the Christmas story with candle lighting, traditional songs, and a family-friendly message of Joy. 
 

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Cooper Marching Band with members of the U of M Marching Band will hold a concert at Cooper High School on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 7-8:30pm. This event will raise funds for KidPack programs. Cost is $10 (elementary-age children are free). Tickets available at the office.
