Wednesday Nights on the Lawn | Wednesday, August 9 from 6:00-8:00pm

There will be a bonfire, games and an Ice Cream Eating Contest!  If it’s hot, kids should bring a towel and wear a swim suit as we have water balloons and sprinklers to play in also.  WNL is for the neighborhood, so we encourage people to bring friends and neighbors!

Elim School Supply Drive: Help get NEAR & Lakeview students ready for school in September. Bring by your donations by Aug. 1.  Drop them in the red wagons or at the church office. Supplies will be bagged and distributed later in August. Lists are available in the Narthex and at the office, or under the Get Involved tab.

Free Produce Distribution:  PRISM staff and volunteers will be located at Elim Lutheran Church to distribute free, fresh produce.  Distributions will occur from 11:30am to 1:30pm on August 1, August 15, September 5, September 19, and October 3 (weather permitting; will be canceled in inclement weather). This program is open to the public, and PRISM expects to serve more than 300 families during each distribution.  Participants will complete a same-day registration form at the distribution, no appointment or prior registration is necessary.

Volunteer:  Up to 6 volunteers are needed bi-weekly to help distribute free, fresh produce in Elim’s parking lot this summer! To sign up for one or multiple dates, go to: signup.com/go/f5rp9r or contact PRISM Community Engagement Manager Dan Gregory at 763-432-4210.

Dinner at Your Door: Volunteers are needed for a 1½ hour commitment, 1 day per month, from 10:30am to noon.  Training is provided.  Please contact Eileen Beggs at 763-391-6648, okay to leave a message.

The Elim Garden Club  will hold their July 25 meeting at Dennis Moore’s home and tour his garden.  Everyone is invited.  We will meet at the church at 6:35pm and carpool to Dennis’ home in Maple Grove.  Dennis is an avid flower gardener.

New Artwork: Through our partnership with Robbin Gallery, we’re displaying art by local artist Victor B. Perlbachs.  The paintings can be seen in the church office, by the elevator on the Parlor and Sanctuary levels, and in the Parlor.  All paintings are for sale (price listed on paintings).  Contact Victor at 952-212-0532 or vperlbachs@gmail.com if you are interested.

Blood Drive | Friday, August 18 | 11:30-5:30pm

A critical shortage of blood donations may lead to delays in urgent medical care to vulnerable patients. You can help make sure that doesn’t happen. Please commit to give!  A Blood Drive is scheduled in Elim’s Gym on August 18. To make an appointment, call 1- 800-RED-CROSS (733-2767) or go to www.redcrossblood.org and use our sponsor code: ELIMLUTHERAN.  You may also stop by the office to register. Please donate and bring a friend or family member. Your donation could help save lives!

Women’s Bazaar: We have new towels in the office to be embroidered. Also, between now and October, donations of craft items are needed.  The Women of Elim are looking for new and fresh ideas for homemade craft items to sell at the annual bazaar.  The bazaar takes place in October, but it’s not too early to be thinking about this year’s sale.  Bring items to office and please include your name, phone number, and the cost of materials. Please contact Darlene Knealing at 763-535-3613 for more information.  Thank you.

Congratulations to Elim members. We have voted in a new lead pastor. Pastor Dan Doerrer was elected with 115 yes votes and 4 no votes. A 97% margin. This is excellent news indicating widespread eagerness to get moving again. The call committee was singularly impressed through three interviews; each interview making him a stronger and stronger candidate. Pr. Dan comes with excellent recommendations from those in clergy who know him and our internal staff were very positive after their first encounter with him. His first day in the office will be September 4 and his first Sunday will be Rally Sunday on September 11.  Pastor Mark’s last Sunday will be September 3. We thank him for his excellent guidance and great sermons over the past year.
