FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD: A Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative
Responding to homelessness in our community, the Elim Lutheran Church has joined the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative.  We will be hosting up to 4 families at Elim for one week at a time, twice a year.  During the hosting week, Elim members volunteer to set up sleeping rooms in several Sunday School rooms; to greet and socialize with our guest families; to provide an evening meal; to participate in activities and games with children; and to serve as overnight hosts. Volunteer training is provided. Our work with the Beacon Collaborative aligns us with 70 other congregations throughout the Twin Cities who are working to alleviate not just the lack of affordable housing but the societal pressures that contribute to homelessness as well!

Elim will host families the week of December 2-9, 2018.  We will be “home” for up to 4 families (a maximum of 16 people) during the evening and overnight during this week. Families will be using the Sunday School rooms on the second floor across from the gym and possibly the reception room.
