YOUTH & FAMILY
  • Communion Class: At Elim, children can learn about the sacrament of communion by attending the Communion Class with a parent or adult family member.  The class is intended for children age six or older.  Children attending the Communion Class will be recognized on Thursday, April 18 during the Maundy Thursday Service. There will be a small reception in the Parlor following the service.  To register: Contact Pastor Dan at 612-695-8453.
  • ElimKidsGO! Dance Party | Saturday, April 27 | 6-8pm | Elim Gym Boys and Girls… Save the Date!! Music, lights, fog machine, karaoke, photo booth, refreshments and more!  Cost is $5 per child. Party attire encouraged! Bring friends! RSVP by April 24 to Kelly at 612-203-4260.
 
SERVICE & MISSION
  • 2019 Minnesota Food Share—March Campaign Elim will stock the food shelf for NEAR the month of March.  Grocery bags will be available with a list of needed items.  Please bring filled bags to our little red wagons all throughout March.  Money donations are also accepted (checks made out to NEAR or Elim Lutheran Church with note for NEAR).  The drive for food and funds continue all year long, but we ask for a you to help us with the March Campaign, too.
  • Dinner at Your Door:  Volunteers are needed for the 4th Wednesday of each month for 1-1/2 hours in the New Hope area.  Please call Eileen Beggs for details at 763-391-6648. Thank you.
  • Designer Purse Bingo KidPack Benefit | Tuesday, April 2 | 6:30pm The Bonfire KidPack/The Sheridan Story is holding a fundraiser at the St. Louis Park American Legion Post 282, 6509 Walker Street in St. Louis Park.  Come help support the children… Every Child Every Meal. Kid Pack is a collaborative effort to fight local weekend hunger for children in our own backyards. Weekend meals to feed a family of 4 are assembled and delivered to schools on Fridays for children to bring home.
  • Seeking BINGO Callers and Helpers! This KidPack “Fun-draiser” will occur on the first Tuesdays of April and May, minimally. We need people who enjoy BINGO and have the knowledge and ability to serve as callers as well as people willing to help on the evenings of April 2 and May 7. If you’d like to be a part of this KidPack benefit, please contact Deacon Kirsten Kessel at 763-458-7332.
  • Luther Park Spaghetti Dinner | Saturday, April 6 | 5-7:30pm | Richfield Lutheran Church Luther Park Spaghetti Dinner Celebrates 60 years of Camping Ministry with Dinner and a New Twist—”60 and Still Going Strong!”  This FUN-draiser for Luther Park Bible Camp is hosted by Richfield Lutheran Church at 8 West 60th Street, Minneapolis.  Join Luther Park friends for a candlelight dinner served tableside.  Come dressed to win “best 60’s costume.” Enjoy good food, music from the 60’s, a raffle and trivia for fun and prizes. Tickets are $20/adults and $5/students.
  • Families Moving Forward | Hosting Dates are May 5 – May 12, 2019 Elim will be hosting homeless families at Elim Church Center May 5 through May 12. Families Moving Forward is a program of the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative.  We invite members of Elim Lutheran Church, Genesis Covenant, and Spiritual Church of God to join in volunteering and welcoming our guests. Elim will be recruiting volunteers at church on Sundays in April. We will also have an online signup link listed in our next Weekly Messenger and Monthly Messenger. More to come.
 
GROUPS & GATHERINGS
  • Women’s Group | Sundays |  10:30am | Fireside Room All women are welcome to this group study. Led by Pastor Marcia.
  • Grief Support Group | Wednesdays, through April 24 | 5:15-6:45pm (no class April 17) Join us any time.  Cost is $20 that includes the workbook. Bring your Wednesday Night Meal to class with you.  This support group is where you will find a warm, caring environment and will see your group as an oasis on your long journey through grief. Led by Pastor Marcia Rosa; meet in the Reception Room (above gym).
  • Aspire Women’s Event | Saturday, April 6 | 6pm | Calvary Lutheran Church Just for women…an evening full of laughter, learning, stories and music.  Pastor Marcia is accompanying a group of women for this event at Calvary Lutheran Church. Reservation have already been collected.  If you need to know more about this, tickets may still be available.  Please contact the office.
  • 1st Sundays Adult Ed | Sunday, April 7 | 10:30am | Parlor The Culture of Homelessness with speaker: Jane Rollwagen King, PsyD, LP, MN Department of Human Services in Behavioral Health and Policy Division Details: This presentation will begin with a definition, history and causes of homelessness. Then, grounded in the work of Dr. Ruby Payne on the Culture of Poverty, it will provide an insight into some common emotional and behavioral themes among people who find themselves without a permanent place to lay their heads. It will close with ideas for how you can get involved in ending homelessness.
