Grandparent Sunday at Elim | Sunday, October 6th | during the 9:15am service
Grandparents and great-grandparents of Elim can accompany their invited grandchild to an interactive bible lesson with singing, crafts, activities and prayer.  To participate, please contact Pastor Dan: ddoerrer@elim-robbinsdale.org or 612-695-8453.
Sunday School gathers after Time for Children (except 1st Sundays), for ages 3 thru 5th grade, led by our trained adult leaders. Parents/guardians can escort their children to the classrooms by following the Sunday School leaders.  Activities and toys for little ones are available in worship or in our commons every week.
Middle School Youth Group gathers on Sundays at 10:15am following worship (except 1st Sundays), located in the Parlor, downstairs in the lower level by the stage.
Confirmation (for Students 9 grade or older): Confirmation sessions begin TODAY from 11:45am to 1:00pm and on the following Sundays: September 29, October 13 & 20.  Students are required to attend a four-session class on the core principles of Lutheran Theology. We invite an adult family member to attend each session too. Students attending these sessions will celebrate their Affirmation of Baptism at Elim’s Confirmation Service on Sunday, October 27 at the 9:15am Service. Garden of Elim Fall Harvest | THIS Sunday following our 9:15am worship, outside on the lawn Join us for the annual Harvest Celebration! Coffee and donuts will be served at the courtyard.  For the children there’s a Vegetable Scavenger Hunt and a Door Prize Drawing for the pumpkins (from the garden).  Everyone is invited to harvest vegetables and take some home. Refreshments, homemade pickles and rhubarb jam will be provided for all to enjoy.
Blessing of the Quilts | NEXT Sunday, September 29 at 9:15am service
We will pray over the quilts to call upon God’s blessing over the families receiving them.
Come Join Elim’s Bible Study | Tuesday, September 24 at 9:30am| Meet at Pr. Marcia’s Home
This Tuesday we will visit at Pastor Marica’s home (11530 54th Ave N. in Plymouth). The group otherwise meets in the Upper Room on the 5th floor every Tuesday at 9:30am. All are welcome.
Women’s Retreat | October 4-6, 2019 | Luther Park Retreat Center in Danbury, WI
Deadline for registration is THIS SUNDAY.  Cost for the New Retreat Center is $140. Log House is $120. Both sites include linens, 5 meals and a memory coffee travel mug. Partial or full scholarships are available.  The core material will be taught between 10am-7pm on Saturday. There is a group going for the day. Cost is $37 for both lunch, dinner and travel mug, registration required. Checks payable to Elim, mark memo “Women’s Retreat.” Carpools will be coordinated if interested for both Saturday and full weekend. Register at www.elim-robbinsdale.org/adult-enrichment. Donuts & Dialogue | Sunday, October 20 | 10:30am | Fireside Room

PRISM Produce Distribution | Tuesday, October 1 from 10am-12pm (This is the last distribution for the season.)
Wildfire KidPack: Volunteers for distribution are still needed at Forest Elementary (1:45 pm Fridays) and Lakeview Elementary (9:30 am Fridays). Additional weekday distributions occur around holidays and school release days, typically Thursdays, but a few Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well, same times. Morpheus: A benefit concert for Luther Park Camp | September 28 | 6:30pm
Located at Eagles Club #34, 2507 East 25th Street in Minneapolis, this musical group will entertain you with hits from the 60’s and 70’s (Eagles, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, etc).  Doors open at 6:30pm with music at 7pm.  $15 suggestion donation at the door.  Food and drink are available for purchse.  For more information contact Joel Legred at jlegred@msn.com or call 612-987-6628. Families Moving Forward | Sunday, October 27 through Sunday, November 3.
We invite members of Elim to join others in volunteering and welcoming our guests.  Families Moving Forward (FMF) is a program of the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative; over 70 churches of all denominations in the metropolitan area provide food and shelters for families seeking to find stable housing.
Here’s how you can volunteer:
  • We will be recruiting volunteers at church on Sundays in October.
  • You may sign up online by going to our website www.elim-robbinsdale.org/service-mission
  • You can call the church office at 763-537-8481 and leave your name and phone number.

Ways you can volunteer include:

  • Sunday, October 27 after church (1:00 – 3:00pm) we need around 10 volunteers to set up the family sleeping rooms in the Sunday School rooms
  • Sunday, October 27 from 4:00-6:00pm we need volunteers to welcome the families and show them their rooms, and volunteers to serve dinner.
  • Sunday, October 27 overnight we need 2 people to serve as overnight hosts, sleeping at church in case there is an emergency and waking the families in the morning.
  • Monday through Saturday, October 28 – November 2, each day we need around 6 people to greet guests, serve supper, and help with children’s activities. And each night we need 2 people to serve as overnight hosts, sleeping at church in case there is an emergency and waking the families in the morning. The overnight hosts sleep in separate areas with comfortable beds.
  • Saturday, November 2 we need 2-3 people to serve a warm breakfast from 7:00 to 9:00am.
  • Sunday, November 3, 7:00 to 9:00am we need around 10 people to disassemble the sleeping rooms before church.
Suicide Awareness Symposium | Saturday, September 28th, 2019 | 8:30am-3:30am
A leadership team of Elim members will attend this event.  This symposium will have workshops, exhibits, and a clergy panel discussion addressing how faith communities can recognize and respond to this important topic.  Contact Pastor Dan if you are interested in joining this team. Robbins Flats Apartment Development: A representative from Robbins Flats will visit Elim TODAY.  Patti, will be available before and after the 9:15am service to answer questions and share information about our new neighbors.
